senior in college. yes, i said it out loud - i am a senior in college. how this happened, i have no clue, but i know that it means that i need to start planning the rest of my life.
…whatever that is…
in speaking with my dad last night about my plan for life, he basically told me that if i try to dance professionally for 2 or 3 years that my brain will waste away, i will never have a career, he will have to stop supporting me and that i will end up being a poor dancing yoga teacher on the streets of loserville.
thank you for those words of encouragement, father.
he has this cooky idea that all i want to do with my life is have my face permenantly plastered in a science book, go to medical school, and have no life, friends, or family except for those few pill-poppers whose habit i help maintain with my big, fancy M.D. and prescription pad. actually, well…no, that is not my life plan.
so last night i started creating a list. lists usually soothe my stress, so i figured creating a list of dance companies that i could potentially audition for would make me feel better. i have now worked on putting this list together for a total of 4 hours and this is what i have..
Gallim Dance (NY, NY)
Company C Contemporary Ballet (San Fran, CA)
Arc Dance Company (Seattle, WA)
Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (Dayton, OH)
Mystic Ballet (CT)
Philadanco (Philadelphia, PA)
State Street Ballet (CA)
American Contemporary Ballet Theater (NJ)
Body Traffic (L.A., CA)
Bodiography Contemporary Ballet (Pittsburgh, PA)
Verb Ballet (Cleveland, OH)
now if any of these companies would consider me to be a company member is an entirely different story. so i have also planned for chocolate, lots and lots of chocolate… hence the name. i decided that maybe posting my list of life plans might keep me from going off the deep end before i even graduate. any words of wisdom would be very much appreciated. thank you.
